蔡英文總統在今天(20日)就職演說中提到，政府使命就是為人民解決問題，並帶領台灣與世界趨勢接軌。對此，親民黨透過新聞稿指出，這主張與親民黨黨主席宋楚瑜一貫的主張一致，對於蔡總統能抓住這項核心價值，親民黨給予肯定。

親民黨也說，蔡總統在兩岸關係發言上，引用2005年胡宋公報的說法，並站緊中華民國憲法立場，也說明對過去兩岸協議的尊重，親民黨認為，這形同沒有用「九二共識」四個字，但承認了九二共識，親民黨相信大陸領導人也會有正面的回應，兩岸關係應不致於大幅倒退。

親民黨並強調，他們會站在監督者立場，繼續監督新政府施政，同時也會提出具體建言，並與任何願意推動台灣改革的政黨合作。
